Estate, Downsizing, and Hobby Collection Donations
Order of the Bear is especially interested in helping give second life to hobby collections, estate items, and creative supplies that may otherwise sit unused, be discarded, or be sold off piece by piece.
Many families find themselves responsible for collections that were built over many years: model kits, trains, scenery, paints, tools, games, miniatures, terrain supplies, hobby books, or creative materials. These collections often meant a great deal to the person who owned them, but they can be difficult for families to sort, price, store, or place.
If the family does not need to sell the collection, donating it to Order of the Bear can be a meaningful way to honour that hobby and keep it active in the community.
A donated collection could help a young person build their first model, give a beginner access to tools they could not afford, support a low-cost workshop, become part of a community project, or help local residents discover hobbies like model building, miniature painting, terrain making, game design, and creative fabrication.
We are especially interested in larger hobby donations and collections, including:
- Board game collections
- Plastic model kits
- Partially built model kits
- Unbuilt model collections
- Model train items
- HO scale and N scale trains
- Track, scenery, buildings, and layout materials
- Miniatures and gaming figures
- Terrain and diorama supplies
- Paints, brushes, glues, and hobby tools
- Role-playing game books and supplies
- Dice, cards, tokens, and accessories
- R/C cars, parts, tools, or accessories
- Craft and maker supplies
- Storage bins, organizers, and small parts drawers
Collections do not need to be perfect. Partially built kits, incomplete kits, older supplies, opened boxes, spare parts, scenery materials, and mixed hobby lots may still be very useful for learning, kitbashing, repairs, painting practice, terrain building, demonstrations, or future Creator Studio workshops.
We cannot promise that every item will be suitable, but we are happy to talk with families, executors, retired hobbyists, downsizing collectors, and community members about what may be useful and how it could support local programming.
Large collection to donate? Please contact us before bringing estate collections, model train materials, tools, bulk hobby supplies, or large donations. We can talk through what you have, what may be useful, and how the collection could help support affordable creative access in the community.
